ABOUT

Our Origins: Born from Passion, Built for Artists

Orpheus Rising, a program within the Lux Nova’s Division of Arts & Arts Education began with a simple but powerful belief: that young musicians deserve extraordinary opportunities to grow, perform, and thrive. Led by Miriam Duvall – a longtime New York City arts advocate and philanthropist - by a group of dedicated artists and educators, and volunteers came together with a shared mission—to create opportunities where talent is nurtured, discipline is celebrated, and artistry is ignited.

Inspired by our own musicians and mentors we launched our first masterclass series in 2022 along with the New York International Music Festival & Concours -  www.nycmusicfest.org -  an annual competition for piano, voice, and strings in partnership with CUNY, Steinway & Sons, and the Carnegie Hall Young People’s Education Programs. From those beginnings, we’ve grown into a thriving hub for emerging artists, offering masterclasses, audition workshops, and performance intensives across several musical disciplines.

Our roots remain grounded in community, mentorship, and the belief that every artist’s journey matters. We continue to grow, driven by passion, purpose, and the unshakable belief in the power of music.
